Accessing someone’s personal archive is an act of trust and generosity. So it was with Susana Oliva, who allowed OJOS DE BUEY to explore the albums she has kept for over thirty years, full of photos of her time at La Ruta between 1987 and 1990. This collection of images offers a personal narrative about that demonised era, presenting a collective account of memories without nostalgia. The photographs capture the essence of ‘partying’ and immortalise intimate moments that were never intended to be shown. They reflect the authenticity of the fun and companionship of those years in the Valencian suburbs, highlighting dances, laughter and moments shared both in discos and car parks.

This book is a tribute to the desire for freedom and camaraderie of a group of young people, a reminder of the right to unproductivity and the capacity for wild and fun insubordination that can arise spontaneously, taking advantage of the cracks in the system.
